Director and current anime golden child Makoto Shinkai has some kind words for Kyoto Animation's Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium: Todoketai Melody, the second compilation film from the Sound! Euphonium anime series. Shinkai wrote on Twitter on Wednesday that the "script, picture, sound, color, composition, voice acting, and everything was wonderfully splendid."
He said this film was his first introduction to Sound! Euphonium, but that regardless the story was not hard to understand and was "amazing." According to Shinkai, he couldn't tell that it was a re-edit of a television series and it works as a stand-alone film about adolescence.
